The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics Sciences of HMU has a European orientation, through academic programs of exchange of students and teachers.

Research

Our department has laboratories which take part in national and international research projects and publish articles in well-known scientific journals.

The aim of the Department is to prepare high level scientists, able to meet the modern requirements of companies and organizations in both the private and public sector.

Modern Curriculum

The department’s curriculum covers the field of Nutrition and Dietetics Science, with a primary emphasis on its practical application.

Postgraduate Programs

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Science at the Hellenic Mediterranean University, offers students the opportunity to continue their studies at the Master’s level.

Job Market

The employment rate of the department’s graduates in the job market is particularly high. A significant percentage of graduates (over 85%) are employed in the private sector in positions related to their field of study.

The department’s research activities focus on the areas of Applied Dietetics, Body Composition, Quality Control & Food Safety, Food Preparation Methods, Community Nutritionas well as Ergometry & Statistical Analysis of Nutritional and Dietetic Data.

 

Certification by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE)

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University announces the successful completion of the accreditation process for its Undergraduate Study Program (USP) by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE).
According to the report by the External Evaluation and Accreditation Committee — composed of distinguished university professors from Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and a student member from the HAHE student registry — the new Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics fully complies with the principles of the HAHE Quality Standard for Undergraduate Study Programs and the Quality Assurance Standards of the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015) at Level 6 of the National and European  Qualifications Framework.
More specifically, the External Evaluation Committee awarded the highest rating on the evaluation scale for the following criteria regarding the new USP of the Department: «Strategic planning, relevance, and sustainability of the Department», «Design, approval, and monitoring of the quality of the Department’s USP», «Quality Assurance Policy of the Institution and the Academic Unit», «Design, Approval, and Monitoring of the Quality of New USPs», «Student Admission, Progression, Recognition of Academic Qualifications, and Award of Degrees and Certificates of Proficiency for New USPs», «Learning Resources and Student Support in New USPs», «Collection, Analysis, and Utilization of Information for the Organization and Functioning of New USPs», «Public Information on New USPs», «Periodic External Evaluation of New USPs», «Regular External Evaluation and Accreditation of New Undergraduate Programs», and «Monitoring the Transition from Previous Undergraduate Programs to the New Ones».
The accreditation is valid for five years, from May 29, 2025, to May 28, 2030.
The accreditation of the USP marks a significant achievement for the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Sciences at the national level and confirms the high-quality education provided to its students.

Our study programs

Undergraduate studies

DURATION: 4 YEARS

Students gain theoretical knowledge and technical training in the fields covered by the Department. They also develop oral and written communication skills as well as group collaboration skills.

Master’s Degree Programs

DURATION: 2 YEARS

The Department of Nutrition & Dietetics Sciences, in addition to the main degree, also offers its students the possibility to continue their studies at postgraduate level.

Doctoral (Ph.D.) Programs

MINIMUM DURATION: 3 YEARS

The Doctoral (Ph.D.) Study Programs of the Department of Nutrition & Dietetics Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University aim to promote original scientific research and lead to the acquisition of a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree.
