Theodora Mouratidou is a Professor at the Hellenic Mediterranean University with over 20 years of experience in research, policy support, and consultancy, addressing both research- and policy-driven priorities. She has collaborated with the University of Sheffield, UK and the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and has advised the European Commission (Joint Research Centre [JRC], European Food Safety Authority [EFSA]), as well as United Nations agencies, including the United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF], the World Health Organization [WHO], the Food and Agriculture Organization [FAO], the International Organization for Migration [IOM], and the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA]. Her work includes research on the relationship between diet, obesity, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs); contributions to EU legislative policy on trans fatty acids; support for the EU Action Plan on Childhood Obesity (2014–2020) and the Greek Action Plan on Childhood Obesity; capacity building for the integration of nutrition indicators into budgetary and health surveys; and knowledge management. She has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and 10 scientific and technical reports, and has contributed to the organization of one international tri-agency United Nations conference, one national conference, and seven international scientific, technical, and training events. She has participated in more than seven large-scale population research projects, coordinating three of them, and has coordinated four additional projects providing scientific and technical support for policy, strategic, and legislative development at both EU and national levels.
